Default Can parents make parental controls undetectable?

I have a MacBook, and I'm wondering if my parents have installed some sort of software to monitor what I'm looking at. Is there any way to find out? I've gone on to system preferences, to the parental control, but it said there were no user accounts to manage. Can they make it completely undetectable? Is it possible for them to look at what I'm going on without me knowing at all? Because I'm EXTREMELY concerned with my privacy sometimes.
I don't go on anything harmful, but if they saw what I went on I would be teased quite a bit.

Hey, I don't think what Sienna needs is a blocker. He/she wants to know more about parental control!
